January's Athletes of the month

LCHSABC & La Villa Roma January Athletes of the Month

The “Athlete of the Month” was established to recognize a member of each varsity team for representing themselves and their school in a positive manner.  Each winner will be announced at school and receive a gift card to La Villa Roma Restaurant and a t-shirt from the LCHS Athletic Booster Club.  Please take the time to stop by and thank La Villa Roma and the LCHSABC for their support of Raider athletics.

Boys Basketball – Luke Brenner

Luke Brenner epitomizes the complete Raider Basketball player. His toughness, versatility and basketball acumen has been instrumental in the Raiders success this season. Luke accepts any role given to him, works extremely hard in practice and is a role model for all players in the program. Congratulations Luke!

– Coach Alexander

Boys Indoor Track & Field – Josh Bernstein

Josh has had a spectacular indoor season! He broke the school record in the 1000m by 3 seconds and just missed a state qualifier by .5 seconds. He is also a member of the 4 x 800m relay that has qualified for the state meet. - Coach Campbell

Boys Swimming – Wayne Griffin

Through the month of January, Wayne has been a fierce team member for us. He has shown us time and time again that putting in the work at practice pays off. His times in the races continue to drop and improve his technique along the way. Wayne continues to demonstrate what it means to be a teammate, by supporting in every way he can. Congratulations! – Coach Gallo

Girls Basketball – Tess McMullen

Tess has continued to display a tremendous work ethic and leadership qualities both on and off the court. Her consistent effort and energy in practice has translated into the games for Tess, as she's the team’s leading rebounder. Her efforts on both ends of the court has helped the Lady Raiders in key wins this year. Her desire to improve her game and get her teammates involved makes her valuable in so many ways! Keep up the great work Tess! Coach Campbell

Girls Indoor Track & Field – Lorelei Villaflor

Lorelei has really impressed her coaches with her great improvement this season. She has made the Indoor Top Ten All-Time List in three events and has qualified for post-season competition. -Coach Campbell

Girls Swimming – Abby Ramberg

Abby has been continuing to work hard and improve as the season progressed. In the month of January, she has set personal best times in all events, while still taking the coaching from us. She sets an example to all her peers on what it should be like to be a teammate. Abby continues to grow as an athlete and we look forward to seeing what she can do the rest of the season. Congratulations! Coach Gallo

Winter Cheer – Taylor Miller

Taylor works extremely hard to make sure her cheers are on point, she always makes practice fun and keeps the team happy and smiling. – Coach Sprowles

Wrestling – Zach Rios

Zach has had an outstanding month in January.  He went 17-1 in the month of January to run his yearly record to 36-2 on the season.  His month included winning two individual tournaments (Warren County and John Champe).  His only loss for the entire month was wrestling up a weight class against a state medal winner.  He also went undefeated in the district during that time and enters the district tournament as the #1 seed.  He is an incredibly hard worker both inside and outside of the classroom as he carries over a 4.5 GPA.  Way to go Zach! – Coach Nagy
