The Swim Team tryouts will be held at Ida Lee the week of November 5th. The days we will be in the pool for tryouts, is Monday Nov. 5 at 9:30 pm, Tuesday Nov. 6 at 8:30 pm, and Thursday Nov. 8 at 9:30 pm. Us coaches would like the students to arrive at least 20 minutes early so that we can make sure all the paperwork is done and accounted for before the start of the tryouts.
We will be going over the event list, along with other information needed.
The Boys Swim team started off the season strong, with a 193-85 victory over the Vikings of Loudoun Valley! The boys were led by junior Shane Hunter who qualified for the state meet in the 500 Freestyle, the 50 Freestyle, and the 200 Medley Relay team with Gavin Wagner, Kyle Backus, and Colby Koenig. Also in the meet, Gavin qualified for states in the 100 Backstroke and Colby qualified for regionals in the 200 IM and 100 Backstroke. Overall it was a strong meet from Start to finish from the entire team! The next meet, is Saturday, Dec. 8 against Briar Woods HS at South Riding Aquatic Center at 5:00 pm.

The Boys Swim team had a very strong showing but suffered a defeat to the hands of the Falcons from Briar woods. In the defeat, the boys were able to dig deep and show what they were made of. Colby Koenig had a strong performance finishing 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke and qualifying for states in the 100 Butterfly, while winning the race. A lot of swimmers were able to get impressive time while not doing events that they are comfortable in. Overall it was a strong performance from the boys swim team!

This is a team building event, along with a team meeting
On Friday, the boys swim team defeated the Wolverines from Woodgrove by a score of 154 to 134. During the meet, the boys were able to win 7 of the 11 races, while continuing to drop times and impress everyone. Friday night, the boys were able to add 3 more qualifying times for the state meet in, Shane Hunter (200 Freestyle & 100 Butterfly) along with the 200 Freestyle Relay ( Hunter, S, Wagner, G, Koenig, C, Backus, K). The boys team is coming along strong and are making progress towards the Conference, Region and State meet.
The Raiders continued their strong swimming in the pool on Friday, December 21 at Ida Lee Recreation Center. The Raider boys defeated Millbrook High School by a score of 114 to 49 and Park View High School by a score of 122 to 48. During the meet, the Raider boys dominated in the relay events winning all three and winning seven of the 11 events. Individual event winners include Kyle Backus (200-yard Individual Medley), Michael Seck (50-yard Freestyle), Alex Hamilton (100-yard Freestyle), and Oliver Olsen (100-yard Breaststroke). As a whole, the Raider boys continued to achieve season-best times, personal-best times, and continued to make progress toward post-season competitions approaching in January and February. The Raider coaching staff is very pleased with the efforts on Friday night and hope the team will continue their momentum moving forward. The Raider boys will return to the pool on Saturday, December 29 at 6:00 PM to take on the Rams of Riverside High School at Ida Lee Recreation Center.
This past Saturday, the boys suffered a defeat at the hands of Rams from Riverside. Shane Hunter was able to come through big with a victory and state qualifying time in the 100 Freestyle. Along with that swim, the rest of the boys team was able to step and provide strong swims throughout the entire meet. Us coaches were impressed with all the performances and the times that were swam, it was a good chance for a lot of the swimmers to get times in events. The boys swim team came away with a decisive victory, this past Saturday, against the Huskies of Tuscarora by a score of 175 to 97.The boys scored victories in 9 of the 11 events. All three relays won, along with Shane Hunter (200 & 100 Freestyle), Colby Koenig (50 & 500 Freestyle), Brian Hay (100 Butterfly) & Nick Durot (100 Backstroke). Overall it was a very strong showing from the boys team, with a lot of best times and improvements. Our next meet is Saturday, January 12 at 3:00pm at Claude Moore.
Conference Recap This past Saturday, the raiders swim team finished 3rd overall at the conference meet. Both the boys and girls teams finished 4th place on their sides. In the meet, both boys and girls 200 Medley relays qualified for the state meet, along with Shane Hunter, Gavin Wagner, and LexieVanderloo in individual events. During the meet every swimmer swam competitive races, while dropping time and edging out other swimmers. Along with the state qualifiers Colby Koenig, Kristen Chang, Josie Boyle, Gretchen Allen, both boys and girls 200 freestyle relays, and both boys and girls 400 freestyle relays qualified for the region meet. Overall both teams preformed very well and represented LCHS with great sportsmanship and class. Our next meet will be Regionals, Friday February 8th at Claude Moore.

This past Friday, at Claude Moore, the LCHS Swim Team had a very strong showing at the Region 4C Championship meet. The boys were led by Shane Hunter, finishing 2nd in the 50 Freestyle, along with 3rd in the 500 Freestyle. On the Lady Raiders side, they were led by Lexie Vanderloo, who placed 2nd in the 200 Freestyle while placing 4th in the 100 Butterfly. All the swimmers provided great performances, while continuing to drop time. In the meet, Colby Koenig, Kristen Chang, and Gavin Wagner were able to solidify themselves in individual events for the state meet, beside Shane and Lexie. With all those great individual performances, the relay teams, 200 Medley (boys & girls), 200 Freestyle (boys), & 400 Freestyle (boys) were also able to advance to the state meet.
